Disclaimer: None of us is in advertising, marketing, and I lost that lying contest at the county fair. Still, maybe we should consolidate ideas about how/why/what/where we should be advertising.
Target Audience?
- Retrogamers (e.g., people who funded Wasteland 2)
- Boardgaming/tabletop rpg/collectible trading card enthusiasts, and other devout fans of fantasy
- College students
- The indigent
- Military people (they show up a lot, historically)
- Hipsters (sigh)
- People trying to learn English through what is arguably the most challenging fashion possible
Advertising Ideas:
- Jolinn has a $1/adwords budget. We could buy keywords on search engine for certain terms.
- Voting on super sketchy top mud sites (does this really do anything?)
- Putting up posters on those kiosks at colleges (do colleges still have kiosks? Why aren't all students just on Facebook?)
- Speaking of which, doing something with our Facebook Page
- Starting a Twitter account [but what to put in it?]
- Advertise on retro gaming forums
- Advertise on D&D/Pathfinder/etc. forums
- Something mobile? Not sure what.
- Avendar: We spam now?
More out there:
- Avendarian fiction outside of the mud
- How much does an ad on a lonely late night local TV channel watched by trailer park inhabitants cost?
