Netalin, a shuddeni psionicist following the incessant call of the moons, found himself brought up as high as possible up mount Enrien, to an abandoned shrine.
You gained 2 exploration points and 20 experience points! A Forgotten Sanctuary The jagged rock of Mount Enrien opens onto a jutting, stony cliff. Upon it, an ancient circular platform sits, its once-flat surface uneven with the passing of ages. Tenacious weeds sprout up from between the brown rocks, feathering parts of the crumbling shrine's surface with green. Moss and dirt cling to a high, shattered archway which bisects the platform, one column rising on either edge. It looks to have been toppled by some powerful force, its thick, carved stone splintered across the cliff-side. At the center of the platform is a pool of water, jagged fragments of stone surrounding it, but not penetrating its depths. A dangerous mountain path leads downward. [Exits: down] A breathless stillness surrounds you as you make your way up the trail, and you know you are the first to have made your way here in a very long time. Netalin licks his lips as he slowly takes in the platform. % look platform This circular platform has been built upon the cliff with rocks from the mountain itself. Its outer edge contains large, apparently druidic signs, which have been long-marred by weather and time. Various stones have come completely loose and are missing, while rich green moss, weeds and wildflowers upturn those that remain. At the center of the platform is a standing pool of water, upon which plant and debris do not encroach. % look pool A pool of water sits at the precise centre of the stone circle here. The water appears still and black, reflecting nothing at all, no breeze sending even a ripple across the surface. Netalin approaches the pool of water, stopping just past where the plant life stops. You think, 'Very.. Interesting.' The silence fills you, expectant, waiting for... something? Netalin lifts his head and opens his mind to the area around him. A calmness settles over his thoughts. The gusting wind dies down. As the moon rises, the pool reflects the blood-stained image of Rhos upon its depths. 'Here. The first. But not the last.' You feel blood from your wrist oozing down into the water, the image undisturbed. Netalin shifts his gaze to the pool, watching as his blood drips into it. % look pool Ok. A pool of water sits at the precise centre of the stone circle here. The bloody face of Rhos is reflected in the water, seeming to stain the surrounds with its angry glow. Netalin tilts his head to the side, his gaze taking in the reflection of Rhos. 'Bring your sacrifice to me here. Bring your gift to me here. Here. Or one of the others.' You feel fingers brushing on your cheeks. Netalin turns his face just slightly towards the feeling of the fingers as he murmurs, in shuddeni, 'It will be done.' 'When? Now!' Netalin hisses, in shuddeni, 'The Champion hides, fearful of his death! His blood will pour here, his heart will be delivered.' 'It must. You must! It will. You will!' Netalin lifts his eyeless gaze to the sky, then hisses, in shuddeni, 'The first offering has been made. The offering of the Champion will be made when he reveals himself. In the meantime, I will bring his friends, the guards who so protect his tower.' With the sunrise, the image within the pool is broken, and now it reflects nothing. 'I do not want friends!' Netalin bares his teeth, then states, in shuddeni, 'The Champion will be brought to you.' 'Soon. Now!' You say, in shuddeni, 'You will have him once I find him. ' A lance of agony drives you to your knees, threatening to send you headlong into the pool. 'No excuses!' Netalin falls to his knees, then growls out, in shuddeni, 'I state.. fact. The Champion will die.. ' 'Bring him. Bring him.' 'To me. To me.' Netalin lifts himself up with his right arm, hissing, in shuddeni, 'Your will will be done.' And then you feel an iron grip release you, one that you only realize was there now that it is gone. Netalin breathes deeply and slumps towards the water. For a moment he simply breaths until finally he pushes himself up. Netalin whispers, in shuddeni, 'To you.' The words ring in your ears, though you cannot tell if they are spoken anew or simply an echo. 'To me. To me.'
