[Comparing Rooms] 1. [Avendar] The Edge of the Savannah Cutting across the land to the south, a deep wash marks the end of the savannah. The grass of the savannah is thick and lush, but remains passable. Small rocks and bushes are interspersed amidst the grass and an occasional tree dots the landscape, providing meager shelter. The savannah continues to the north, east, and west with no other landmarks visible. 1. [Forgotten Things Remembered] The Edge of the Savannah The savannah comes to an abrupt halt here, stopping short before a rank of undulating, rocky hills to the west and south. To the north, a broad plain of unsullied, green fields spreads out like a silken warbanner, the landscape unbroken only intermittantly by trees or bushes. The sounds of thundering stampedes fills the temperate air, fading into the distance as swiftly as they came. Note: Title - The Edge of the Savannah ------------------------------------------------------ [Avendar] The Middle of the Savannah Spreading out over the land, the savannah continues in every direction. The grass of the savannah is thick and lush, but remains passable. Small rocks and bushes are interspersed amidst the grass, and an occasional tree dots the landscape, providing meager shelter. To the southwest, a chain of hills rises up, overshadowing the grasslands, and off to the west it appears as if the savannah disappears completely. [Forgotten Things Remembered] In the Savannah The savannah unfurls itself before you like an ancient tapestry, its infinite swells and depressions undulating across its surface like delicate ripples in the wind, coloured a myriad shades of emerald, amber, and sienna. The landscape seems curiously devoid of trees, only the vast, fertile plain sweeping out grandly before you. -------------------------------------------------------- [Avendar] The Shore of a Large Lake Nestled in the middle of the savannah which continues in all directions, this large lake provides water for the creatures of the savannah. Despite its size, the lake is not very deep. A thick layer of mud surrounds the water, imprinted with the tracks of many animals. Around the mud, the grass is thick and lush, but remains passable. The lake continues to the east, while far off to the west a chain of hills rises above the savannah. [Forgotten Things Remembered] A Crystal Lake A crystalline lake is nestled in the heart of the savannah, the cool waters originating from the hills and mountains which embrace the flatlands to the north. The mountain water is crisp and cold, offering much-needed relief from the relentless heat of the savannah. To the east, the lake ripples gently, while in the south and west, the barren grasslands fan out languidly, stretching toward the chain of hills which surround them. [Forgotten Things Remembered] Nearing a Lake To the east, a crystalline lake offers sanctuary to the animals of the savannah, its cool, crisp waters lending some relief against the relentless heat of the noonday sun. Around the lake, surprisingly green plants bloom healthily, their broad leaves fanned out gracefully over the banks of the water. The waters of the lake ripple gently as a warm breeze drifts across the barren, flat lands, splashing playfully against the comparatively dry banks. The grass of the savannah is thick and lush, but remains passable. Small rocks and bushes are interspersed amidst the grass and an occasional tree dots the landscape, providing meager shelter. To the west, a chain of hills rises above the savannah, while the savannah continues to the north, east, and west. [Avendar] A Chain of Hills Almost into the hills that rise above the savannah in the west, the savannah has reached its western end. The hills are steep and impassable, towering over the grasslands. The grass of the savannah is thick and lush, but remains passable. To the south a deep wash, running out of the western hills, cuts across the land and marks the end of the savannah. The savannah continues along the edge of the hills to the north, and heads away from the hills to the east. [Forgotten Things Remembered] The Edge of the Savannah The land grows barren as tall, tawny grasses begin to dominate the landscape. To the north, a rugged chain of hills undulates across the terrain, as the trail underfoot slopes down into a valley to the east. The air is warm and arid, stirred intermittantly by a warm, westward breeze. To the east, an expansive savannah begins to unfurl itself at your feet, while a cracked trail drifts north to south in the west. Note: Chain of Hills reference. ------------------------------------------------------------------ [Avendar] A large bison roams the savannah. A large, heavy animal with a pair of short horns curving upwards from its broad head, this bison roams the savannah in search of food. Shaggy, dark brown fur covers its body, growing thicker and longer near its head. A large bison is in excellent condition. [Forgotten Things Remembered] A huge black buffalo lumbers along slowly. This huge buffalo is covered in a shaggy pelt of dark, brown-black fur. Its massive body would likely weight eight hundred pounds or more, with a darker mane of thick, coarse hair about its neck and shoulders. A huge black buffalo is in excellent condition. Note: Described hair. Note: Presence of a Bison / Buffalo in the Savannah. Biological wrong. This is a northern plains of America -type beast. Doesn't exist in the African Savannah. -------------------------------------------------------------------- [Avendar] A thin gazelle nibbles on the lush grass. Short, light brown fur covers the thin body of this gazelle. Two long horns rise from the top of its head. The gazelle cautiously studies its surroundings as it nibbles daintily on the lush savannah grass. A thin gazelle is in excellent condition. [Forgotten Things Remembered] A lean, brown gazelle with white stripes is here, startled by your approach. This lean gazelle is covered in a thin pelt of honey-brown fur, striped white at its hocks and neck. A pair of perfectly straight, backward sloping horns twist out from its head, stretching almost a half-foot in length. Its eyes are dark onyx, suspiciously darting about the surroundings in search of danger. Note: Horns described, vigilance described ------------------------------------------------------------------------- [Avendar] A brown fox hunts for prey. Thin and agile with long brown fur and a bushy tail, this fox moves stealthily through the grass on its short legs. Its large pointed ears listen for sounds, as the fox searches for prey. A brown fox is in excellent condition. [Forgotten Things Remembered] A bushy-tailed scarlet fox shifts silently here. This tiny, scarlet fox has a tail as long as its entire body, thick and bushy. A thin strip of light beige fur runs down its back, stopping short, just before its tail. A bushy-tailed scarlet fox is in excellent condition. Note: Reference to the fox's tail. -------------------------------------------------------------------------
