[ 0] Wynliean: A fine scroll penned in crimson Sun Jun 29 18:41:43 2003 To: shunned Denizens of the halls of the shunned, my name is Wynliean Fyhl'Julkrest. I study beneath master Toloth of Var Bandor as a mage of the flames. I have just recently come to know of the halls and pen my scroll forthwith for entry into them. Perhaps however, I should explain myself and my past life so that we each have a better knowledge of one another. I was born under the normal name of Derkin D'krastus, a name which I was not long to keep. You see my mother was a somewhat accomplished mage of the earth and my father a simple minded rogue. His likes were not what I've come to accept as company. A man whom let his actions and standings be known to the world around him is a rather simple man in my eyes you see, for I myself am one that would conquer and divide a foe without them having knowledge of my involvement in such. Simple barbaric skills are not my set of style, and something that I have come to look rather down upon. Thusly, I was forced to take matters into my own hands early in life and rid myself of both my mother and father for their simpleton ways and bring forth the life that I now live. It was something that perhaps others would have looked down upon, yet it was a necessity that needed doing, and one that I trusted very few with handling. After my parents were dispatched I lived alone for some time within the small caves of my natural home, so as to not arouse thoughts of my involvments in their demise. All the while however, I was bartering with a merchant whom wandered the river and after a rather large sum of money was handed over came to hold some very well written scrolls and tomes of the use of fire from Yithoul. I studied them day and night, waiting and readying myself for the journey that would ensue when I came of age to leave the shanty that my mother and father had called home for so long. Thus, I found myself within the rather dirty streets of Var Bandor and after a short time within the threshold of the guild of void and fire. Toloth was more than happy to accept a student that had shown some aptitude with the flames and after telling him what brief bits he needed to know abot how I came to learn such, and a rather large sum of platinum, I was made an initiate within the guild. Now then, from there I traveled a rather few short months and came across another relic from and ancient alien city within one of the older shops of Earendam and glanced over it. It told of the fallen god Serachel, and his ways and thoughts. I of course bought it and took it with me at once, and poured over it with a fever of lust and want. I came to see that Serachel was, if no one else, the example by which I had lived my life thus far. So as any my have guessed I penned a scroll to his last known servant and described my life in short detail, vowing to send a fresh scroll once I had achieved a higher stature in life. My goals had now formed within my head you see, yet I was still missing a key element. A place where those of like mind and thouhgt could be found to aid in the very things that I wished. And that is where the Coven of the Shunned came to me. I had heard mutterings of it from the random and rather foolish scholars and templars of spirit I had encountered. They had spoken of a hall in which the claimed the damned and dark walked and sought to slaughter little children. I of course, knowing that they speak only half truths, to what I wished from their words and set out to find this place and learn more about it. I had come across a rather odd man in my dreams, one whom spoke to me from a gout of flame and explained the very workings of something I knew that I needed to me, and then pointed me in the direction in which I could find more about your halls. Thus, I found what I was looking for in another form. It seems that I was overlooked when selsect few had another talk of the halls you each walk in, and I gathered enouph to know that this is what I have been in need of since I have arrived within this dismal town. You see I am a man of thought and planning, not one to go about half witted and run into things that would lead to what I try and build from what I now have. I of course seek to bring myself within the powers of the lands, yet not in a way of a normal person. I've no need to kill outright and slaughter those that I could later have work for me, when in fact I could have others do such for me. I've thought long and hard on what I desire and it is not the common wealth of mortal hands, nay though that may come with what I seek it is not the driving factor in my life. I seek power of the mind, of the body and over men themselves. Not out of might and death, yet our of control and trickery. I seek to learn all that I can and take with me all that have the same mind and likeness within their bodies. I've no care for what happens to me after this body decays and rots, yet I seek ways to ensure that this takes place well beyond the mortal standings of life. I've no qualms of allowing the veil to bring me this power, and knowledge and would give what was needed to allow this to take place of course. I am a man of reason you see and to gain what I seek I do understand that certain sacrifices would need be made to bring it about. Thus, I send this note to the Shunned in hopes of garnering what I seek and bringing with me what I am to aid. The powers that I learn through Toloth alone are revered and feared by many, and with the mind that I hold are a certain force to aid in the dealings of the halls. I only trust that we can come to an agreement in this matter and soon work along side one another.
