Devils

Not to be confused with Demons, devils are chaotic evil beings from the plane of fire. Unlike Demons, devils cannot be bound by magical 'contracts'. The only way to control a devil is generally through bullying or having something it wants (and that it just can't kill you for.) Devils were once under the (relative) control of Bayyal, but with the Lord of Hatred bound, they've fallen into the expected disarray. There are few notable fire devils, only Kyez-Ralin has really been seen.

It's actually not even clear they were under Bayyal's control. Rather, Bayyal just had certain hand-picked fire devils who served him out of fear, or sheer malicious glee.

The Hall of Pillars (8448)

The bas-relief on this pillar shows the Taming of Pancuma, the Devil-Dog.

As Pancuma's hellish ravages were nearing a defenseless city, the beautiful

bard Elde'adria took her simple lute and faced the beast alone. Her

legendary voice calmed Pancuma's rage, and sent him back to the pits from

whence he came.

Perhaps this was also a devil? Or is the name merely figurative?
